Course Description:

 

This course provides an overview of the field of management by combining management theories & practices. It emphasizes the development and application of competencies required for effective leadership, including planning, motivating, organizational control & decision making. Further, it places emphasis on change management, current domestic and global business issues with regard to sustainability & ethics. The course includes practices in conflict resolution and mediation, fostering improvement of working relationships, through the use of activities that integrate emotional intelligence and communication skills, leading to the creation of a productive work environment.

 

Course Learning Outcomes:

 

1.    Identify and explain the concept of management, functions, roles and skills of a manager (Lo1.1)

 

2.       Recognize the functions of planning, organizing and controlling and how they interrelate (Lo2.1)

3.       Demonstrate an understanding of the structure of an organization in reference to its business policies. (Lo1.6)

4.        Apply knowledge and techniques of strategic planning and decision making. (Lo2.2)
